Bangkok Family Trip - 5 - Bungsamran

Day 1 | Day 2 | Day 3 | Day 4 | Day 5 | Day 6

Day 5
Today, my fishing day finally arrived. Mr Nok (the driver) turned up punctually at our Condo. We were ready by then. The drive was actually quite fast and took only 1 hour, not the 2 hour that he said. However, that might be due to the smooth traffic that day, being quite early (7am), before the peak hour.

We arrived at 8am, and I found my guide already waiting for me. His name was Tiey and turned out to be very helpful and a nice guy. He did most of the casting and I only had to sit back to fight the fish. This was highclass fishing to have someone else do all the hard work for you :). I tried to cast myself but the bait was just too heavy for me to throw it far. Only he had the proper technique to do it. I tried once and didn't do very well and then left it to him to do the casting.

The whole place was very clean and big, and to our surprise, we were the only few people there. there was another group at the chalet opposite. The fishing was really relaxing, a very rare occurrence. Also for that day, the weather was a bit cloudy and it was very cooling. It rained a little around 11+am, but it was just nice for us to take a break and have lunch.

Fishing was easy. Just cast to the spot, and in 2 mintues, the float would dip. Then it was strike and fight. But to be fair, there were some lost fights and sometimes, the bait would just be eaten away without any nibbles. So it was not that easy as well. I had one fight that ended up with a broken line, and a couple that got away during mid-fight.

L also had fun catching fishes, and luckily she fished with me to make it more interesting. Else just fishing alone would be quite boring after a while. The rules here was that for 1 rod, 2 persons could fish. A didn't want to try, saying that the fish was so painful when we caught it, so it was fine.

R also wanted to fish and we pretended to put the gimbal on him. I really look forward to the day when we would fish as a father and son team.

At the end of the day (around 2+pm), we ran out of bait. To continue, we would need to spend money to buy bait. For me, it was enough, although the fishing period was till 8pm. By that time, I had caught 7, and L, 4. I was hoping to get a carp, but it was all giant mekong catfishes.

So we packed up, and then headed back to the condo, thining to head for dinner at some local spots again. This time, we walked further down the MRT tracks to the Bang Son Market. This was the real deal, places that the locals go to. Things were very cheap, but then low quality. There was a bouncing place for kids and we put R onto it for 20 bahts??. To our surprise again, he wasn't afraid and had fun climbing up and down the slides. All the children there were thais and didn't know what he was talking when he tried to talk to them. He said they don't know "English"

We then headed over the road, and found a selfie coffee place. We had dinner there. It was nice but expensive, but we did try the amazing selfie coffee. :). Then it was back to the Condo for an early sleep. Fishing had been tiring and our backs and arms were really aching.
